Elon Musk: Self-Driving Cars Are Coming. FAST.
Back in August 3, CEO Elon Musk of Tesla Motors Inc. had unveiled a brief timeline of what to expect from Tesla. According to Business Insider, Musk did avoid commenting about actual projections of new vehicles but he did assure that autonomous cars will arrive faster than we think. Self-driving cars have been the subject of major testing and experimentation and also the subject of public scrutiny primarily driven by negative press from the media.
“Autonomy is going to come a hell of a lot faster than anyone thinks it will, and I think what we’ve got under development is going to blow people’s minds. It blows my mind,” Says Musk.
Backtracking all the way to September 2015, Musk did say Tesla’s autonomous cars will be ready for the road as early as 2018. The problem according to Musk, are government rules and regulations for self-driving cars which would obstruct Tesla’s plans to put the cars on the road.
Elon Musk has worked diligently the past year to put the spotlight on self-driving cars. By raising awareness to Ai, his company plans to make Autopilot in-car vehicles a norm in the streets. It’s not just Musk however, Google, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and reportedly Apple are in the autonomous car game. The mentioned companies are working to enhance and develop autonomous-driving technology.
