Google’s Android Nougat Is Finally Being Released To Public
Ready or not, Android fanatics. Google is releasing its latest Android firmware, 7.0 Android Nougat via over-the-air updates in the coming weeks. The update seeks to be a small one, not revolutionary, but definitely one that will improve battery life, emoji’s, and introduce split-screen multi-tasking.
The OTA’s first roll out to Google’s Nexus line-up of the Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 9,and finally the Nexus Player set-top box. Sorry, Nexus 5 users.
Nexus users should expect the update very soon, however, as previous releases this one will be no different Google claims. There will be slight delays in certain countries and carriers, and if you are desperate, the online developer community will probably have a working vanilla ROM port soon.
The Nougat update features 72 new emoji’s that promise to bring your conversations to life.
And now for the biggest highlight of the update: Split-Screen multi-tasking
Other than the new emoji’s and multi-tasking, Nougat is a VR-powerhouse with native support from Google’s Daydream platform. The platform allows individuals without an engineering background to build virtual reality experiences. This is just the beginning of Google’s soon-to-be reign of the mobile-VR industry.
